I started the shop in May of 1991. Since I had retired from a corporate Marketing position after 25 years, I have been able to use these skills to market my yarn business. My business plan has always been to provide educational classes and info to our customers, have an environment that is homey and inviting as well as organized so that it is easy for customers to wander thru the shop and feel it is easy to see yarn, patterns, books and accessories. To make our shop safe for customers, we purposely do not have any baskets or displays in traffic area. This provides an environment that is handicapped accessible.
We carry around 400 different yarns of all gauges and fibers. A lot of knitted models are on display as well as crochet models. We encourage customers to try on models and will help them with sizing even if the pattern doesn’t have their size. Our stock of single patterns, books and accessories are always up-to-date.
We have a designer on staff who has had many of her original designs published. She also teaches classes as well. All of our classes are taught by master level teachers, we have a “help table” on Monday and Friday afternoons for those who need help to continue their project. However, we encourage anyone to come in at any time. We say, “We help take the stress out of knitting or crocheting”.
We collect left over yarns or not needed yarns for the RSVP program that has over 140 people knitting or crocheting for metro area charities. We are also a drop off shop for the Girl Scout “Knitting for Warmth” silver award project.
