Marj Intveld, Owner
I started Sheepy Yarn Shoppe in May of 1991 after retiring from a 25-year corporate marketing career. I have used these skills to create a yarn shop that is warm, welcoming, and appeals to every knitter. My business plan has always been to provide educational classes and information to our customers, cultivate an environment that is homey, inviting and organized. I want customers to wander through the shop and easily see all our beautiful yarns, patterns, books and accessories. To make our shop safe and accessible for all customers, we intentionally do not have any baskets or displays in traffic area.
We carry more than 200 different yarns of all gauges and fibers. Many knitted and crocheted models are on display to give you ideas and inspiration. We encourage customers to try on models and will help with sizing even if the pattern doesn’t have the correct size. Our stock of single patterns, books and accessories are always up-to-date.
We have a designer on staff who has had many of her original designs published. She teaches classes as well. All of our classes are taught by master level teachers, we have a “help table” on Monday and Friday afternoons for those who need help to continue their project. However, we encourage anyone to come in at any time. We say, “We help take the stress out of knitting or crocheting.”
We collect leftover or not needed yarns for the RSVP program that has more than 140 people knitting or crocheting for metro area charities. We are also a drop off shop for the Girl Scout “Knitting for Warmth” silver award project.
